Position Introduction
At Saint Mary's College, we are committed to providing our student-athletes with a transformative educational experience that integrates athletics, academics, and personal growth. The Sports Information Director is responsible for managing the overall sports communication needs of our NCAA Division III varsity athletics programs as well as the media relations needs of the Department of Athletics.
Job Description
The Sports Information Director will maintain the Athletics Department website including game results and stories, statistics, student-athlete profiles, rosters, schedules, photos, staff updates, archives, records, and history as well as video content, and manage coverage, train and schedule game day staff for all home contests. This position will prepare and distribute media releases, and develop social media strategies and create content to increase engagement across a variety of platforms.
The Sports Information Director will develop and maintain records for all varsity programs, and be responsible for all statistical recordkeeping and reporting to the media, MIAA, and NCAA, plan, organize, and schedule team and individual photography. This position will coordinate freelance photographers and oversee student photographers, and oversee the day-to-day marketing, promotions, and operations of athletic communications and ensure game day facility preparation.
The Sports Information Director will coordinate the development of special event programs, contribute to and/or review Varsity Club communications, and collaborate with Integrating Marketing Communications Departments to uphold College brand standards. This position will integrate College institutional message in Athletics Department publications as well as support and develop Athletics messaging in external College publications.
