The Sports Information Director (SID) is responsible for all aspects of media relations and communications for Bethel University Athletics. • Social Media & Brand Oversight

  • Manage and grow the department's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Oversee appropriate use of team and department accounts and ensure brand consistency.
  • Promote and enforce proper use of Bethel Athletics branding and logos in all marketing materials.

• Game Day Operations & Statistics

  • Provide and supervise live statistics coverage at all home events.
  • Staff and schedule student workers and game day personnel.
  • Provide P.A. announcers with required scripts and promotional reads.

• Awards & Reporting

  • Submit nominations for league, national, and academic awards (e.g., NAIA, NCCAA, CoSIDA).
  • Report scores and stats to governing bodies including the NAIA, Crossroads League, NCCAA, WHAC, ECAC, and GLEC.

• Photography, Video & Live Streaming

  • Take and coordinate team, individual, and action photos for promotional use.
  • Manage the BSN (Bethel Sports Network) live streaming for home games.
  • Collaborate with RRSN and other partners for game broadcasts.

• Marketing & Collaborative Projects

  • Produce and/or contribute to publications such as game day programs, summer camp brochures, Bethel Magazine, and Hall of Fame programs.
  • Collect and prepare media materials for signed student-athletes.
  • Prepare letters of intent upon request.

• Historical & Administrative Duties

  • Maintain department historical records and archives.
  • Serve as a standing member of the Bethel Hall of Fame Committee.
  • Manage the Sports Information budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Associate Athletic Director.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Communications, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in a collegiate-level sports information or athletics communication role.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in digital content creation, sports statistics software, and social media management.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and availability for occasional travel.

In the past three years, the number of completed freshmen applications for admission has increased 18% and the number of first-time, full-time freshmen has increased 22% from 249 to 303. New academic majors have been added in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Christian Leadership, English as a New Language and Marketing. Academic majors experiencing increases in student enrollment include Art Education, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Christian Ministries and Elementary Education. The percentage of students of color has increased from 24% to 33% for the total student body.

Also during this time, $12M was applied to endowment, scholarships, and facility upgrades such as Academic Support Services Center, School of Nursing Simulation Lab, renewal of the largest lecture hall which was renamed for Paqui and Brian Kelly (Notre Dame head football coach), new entrances constructed for the East campus and Athletic Park, the addition of intramural fields, construction of a new Softball Stadium, a refreshed Weight Room, addition of a Kindergarten Lab School, remodeled Art Gallery, renovated Acorn cafe, Wi-Fi network and phone systems installed, renovated computer science lab, classroom and lounge, and more.
