McPherson College welcomes applications for the position of Sports Information Intern.

McPherson College is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Sports Information Intern within our Athletics Department. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports media, communications, and game-day operations for a small college athletics program that values professionalism, creativity, and team collaboration.

This is a part-time, 10-month, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Athletic Communication. The position includes a stipend, housing, and is benefits eligible.  The Sports Information Intern will support the Athletics Department by assisting with press releases, game recaps, and feature stories, while also managing stat keeping and operating live stats software during home contests. The intern will help with live streaming setup, production, and occasional commentary, and will be responsible for updating the athletic website with accurate and timely content such as rosters, schedules, results, and bios. Additional duties include creating social media content, supporting photography and video coverage, assisting with game-day operations, and maintaining accurate records and archives of team and individual statistics.

As a Sports Information Intern at McPherson College, you’ll gain real-world experience in sports information and media relations while building a strong professional portfolio through published work and live event coverage. The internship also offers valuable networking opportunities within the KCAC and NAIA, along with a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of a college athletic department.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, ability to work flexible hours, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn.

Preferred qualifications: Interest in pursuing a career in sports communication, journalism, or athletic administration. Strong writing and communication skills. Experience with social media platforms and basic design/photo/video edition tools. Familiarity with live stats software (Presto, StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats, etc.)
