Evaluation Period: Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester, the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester.

Purpose: Working as a valuable part of the Department of Athletics - the Sports Marketing Co-op will contribute to the Mount's efforts to attract, engage, and retain student-athletes through social media and digital marketing channels, as well as gameday production and sponsorship efforts. Led by a former Brand President from Procter & Gamble, the Marketing team is constantly learning, growing, and innovating, and want to hire a student looking to do the same.

The Co-Op will assist the Department of Athletics with:

• managing a social media content calendar,
• creating posts and event announcements,
• capturing photographic and video content at games,
• monitoring conversations about MSJ athletics,
• basic digital marking initiatives,
• supporting gameday production and sponsorships,
• other duties as assigned by the Sports Information and/or Marketing offices, and measuring the effectiveness of overall efforts. In essence, the person will be getting paid to learn social media in a sports setting, and gaining skills that will be valuable for any field they choose.

Of the co-op's weekly workload, about half of the hours may be spend "in the field" during nights and weekends doing social posts while at MSJ sporting events. As such, the ideal candidate should be comfortable capturing content, creating social media posts, and being a visible member of the MSJ community. The other half of their hours will be worked during traditional office hours.

This position requires regular consultation with members of the University Communications team and frequent work with other members of the campus community and third-party vendors.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled student at Mount St. Joseph University
• Must be at least a second-year/sophomore student who has successfully completed CED 220 or will be enrolled in CED 220 during their co-op experience.
• Work study eligibility mandatory
• Must have personal experience using at least three of the following platforms: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Must have a sincere curiosity about how constituents (student-athletes, alumni, parents, prospective students) experience the MSJ Athletics brand on social media and digital marketing channels.
• Must have strong written and interpersonal communication skills. The person in this role will regularly write pasts as the voice of MSJ Athletics.
• Must be trustworthy and responsible with University logins and passwords.
• Should have an enthusiasm for brainstorming content ideas and scouting industry competitors to come up with new ideas.
• Should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar software. This person will be asked to do some data entry every month.
• Should have strong organization skills and pay close attention to detail.
• Candidates with video editing experience will be given preference.
