Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position of Sports Performance Assistant. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, and managing individual and group strength training programs for men's and women's student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics under the associate athletic director of sports performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform and or demonstrate various physical strength exercises and assist others in performing those exercises
• Develop strength programs tailored to athletes specific needs
• Manage strength and training programs by monitoring the progress of athletes and providing an assessment of development
• Work with athletes to reduce the likelihood of having a sports related injury or the aggravation of an injury during practice sessions and scheduled contest by being knowledgeable of the injury sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods
• Direct appropriate pre-training sessions
• Perform administrative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or Physical Education, 2 years of experience developing and managing sport specific individual and group strength training programs for men and women, certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association or a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. College level experience is preferred.
