Manages the care, maintenance, and renovation of all ERAU athletic fields and grounds. Establishes and implements grounds/landscape development and maintenance goals, policies and procedures. Ensures adherence to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards for NAIA, Cal Pack Conference athletic facilities. Also participates as needed in overall campus grounds maintenance and acts as Grounds Supervisor in the Supervisor’s absence.
Utilizing the Department computerized work management system AIM, responsible for implementing and executing a comprehensive sports turf management program. Responsibilities include planning and organizing the day to day field maintenance including but not limited to mowing, pesticide application for weed control, chemical treatment of athletic fields along with other lawns, trees and shrubs, irrigation, snow and ice removal, pruning, propagation, transplanting and removal of trees. Plans, schedules and performs inspections on the athletic fields and recreational facilities. Coordinate the maintenance, renovation and repair of athletic fields and recreational facilities. Provide emergency response as appropriate to exterior hazardous conditions and assure that the policies of the University as well as all safety regulations are known and observed by grounds staff.

Plans, oversees, and project-manages major athletic grounds and fields renovation projects, as assigned; schedules, facilitates, oversees, and quality controls reconstruction activities, including the work of external contractors.
Oversees assigned personnel, which includes assigning work, work allocation, training and problem resolution; evaluating performance and making recommendations for personnel actions; motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Evaluates available grounds products, standardizes products, fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides to achieve economy.
Develops and manages budgets related to athletic fields and grounds.
Purchases, maintains, and manages inventory of athletic field maintenance equipment and supplies.
Supervises the conversion and protection of athletic fields during special events.
Restores fields damaged by weather, use, or other conditions to a level commensurate with that expected of Division 1-A athletic programs.
Manages and reviews irrigation systems performance and initiates change when necessary.
Maintains a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the workplace as well as the special hazards that may be encountered at ERAU such as biohazards, radiation, chemicals, etc. Follow established procedures for dealing with such potential hazards.

Required Education** :**
Read and comprehend instructions, write information, and complete simple forms.
High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math.
Formal diploma/certificate/degree program of 6-18 months after high school.
Area of study: Sports Turf Management
Required licenses, certificates, and /or security clearances:
State of Arizona Valid Driver’s License
State of Arizona Dept of Agriculture Certified Spray Applicator (Core, ROW, Ornamental)
OHSA 10 certification
Forklift, Scissor lift and aerial certification
Required skills, knowledge, abilities:
Ability to remain awake and alert at all times while working on campus.

Ability to develop short and medium range grounds development plans.
Ability and skill to check own work/documentation for completion and accuracy of data.
Skill in operating trenchers, tractors, roto-tillers chippers, and other commonly used larger pieces of power driven grounds equipment.
