Category 3 Licensing & Certification (Turf and Ornamental Pest Control) required within 6 months of hire.

The Sports Turf Management Assistant will work with the Sports Turf Manager in performing the daily operations of maintaining the Barnhart Athletic Complex, specifically the Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Complex, Soccer Practice Complex, John Cropp Softball Stadium and Kentucky Proud Park. Duties include but not limited to assisted oversight of part-time employees; operating sports turf equipment; mowing, landscape maintenance; performing fertilizer sprays; synthetic turf grooming; preparing fields for practice and competition and communicating with coaches about weather and playing conditions. This position will also provide and perform daily tasks to support the Sports Turf Team and Operations Department.
The successful candidate must be able to work overtime when required, as well as fulfill obligations of Plan B designated employees. In addition, this position requires significant lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of 50 lbs or more. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to extreme temperature conditions (both cold and hot outdoor weather, etc.) and will work in the rain.

Category 3 Licensing & Certification (Turf and Ornamental Pest Control) required within 6 months of hire.

rules and regulations is required.
Laying out of soccer and softball fields, painting soccer and softball fields, aerification, topdressing, seeding, reel mower operation, rotatory mower operation, weedeating, edging of sidewalks, pulling weeds in flower beds; infield dirt preparation; infield watering, must be able to obtain Category 3 Licensing and Certification.
