Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the office, such as answering phones, stocking office supplies, reconciling purchasing card receipts, and being one of the first people to greet guests as they enter the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center. Reporting to the Director of Internal Football Operations, this position will help with team travel during the fall with duties as assigned. This position will also assist the recruiting department with duties assigned such as submitting paperwork, transcripts or providing other assistance with on-campus visits. This position will also help in the administration of summer camps.
Workplace Requirements:
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two or more (2+) years of office experience.
Skills
Able to correspond professionally both in writing and orally
Familiarity with MS Office Suite
Essential Functions:
Prepare expense reports on behalf of the coaching and support staff.
Welcome visitors to the building and answer inbound phone calls.
Act as a representative of the Rice Football Program, maintaining appropriate professionalism and confidentiality.
Provide logistical support for events as needed.
Assist with other administrative functions as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned

The Staff Assistant provides administrative support and customer service to the Rice Counseling Center, Student Wellbeing Office, and SAFE Office. This person is the first line of contact for department visitors and callers. Duties include, but are not limited to, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, creating and managing records, directing calls, financial reporting, and special projects as needed. The Staff Assistant is part of an administrative team that supports the three student support offices.
