Job Description:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist with the responsibility for the organization and administration of the Sports Medicine services for the intercollegiate athletic program. Will assist in formulating policies and procedures that are intended to insure the health and safety of all athletes, and will work in close association with the University Team Physician.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the planning, organization, development of policies and procedures and operation of the Sports Medicine program.
Assists with maintaining all medical records and coordinates with the University's health services provider and the team physician to gather necessary information.
Establishes relationship with Team Physician and assists with pre-season physicals. Communicates regularly with the Head Athletic Trainer, Director of Athletics, coaches and student-athletes of all pre-season physical screening schedules and results.
Informs student-athletes of student health insurance coverage in regard to athletic participation as needed.
Assists in the promotion of health and physical well-being of all student-athletes in regard to first aid treatment, injury prevention, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation within the guidelines set by the NCAA and the Team Physician.
Assumes responsibility for determining the ability of an athlete to safely participate in practice and games upon a physician's and the Head Athletic Trainer's advice, if needed.
Maintains communication with students, coaches, staff, physicians and Athletic Department administration in regard to care and prevention of athletic injuries.
Assists with the maintenance, operation and supervision of the sports medicine areas and equipment.
Develops on-going list of needed supplies and equipment and keeps Head Athletic Trainer informed of needs.
Assists with establishing a calendar for coverage of the Training Room, team practices and intercollegiate contests to inform the Athletic Department administration.
Assists with ensuring current certification in Basic First Aid, CPR and AED (First Responder) for coaches and providing certification classes as needed.
Assists with arranging for training coverage at away games.
Assist with the development of an annual report/review.
Assists in the evaluation of the Sports Medicine Program and submits recommendations to the Head Athletic Trainer.
Supports and attends Department and Divisional functions and meetings.
Other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required with Master's degree preferred.
Current Massachusetts license required.
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in intercollegiate sports medicine program preferred;
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with members of the college community and general public.
Ability to perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI check), a SORI and a background check satisfactory to the university.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 to $66,000.
