Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, illness and medical issues of all student-athletes.
Oversee the general health care of all student-athletes.
Responsible for all medical referrals to team physicians, surgeons, physical therapists and the Husson University Wellness Center.
Provide medical coverage to athletic teams through daily practice coverage.
Athletic training facility coverage during hours of operation.
Daily communication with coaching staff regarding injury status of student-athletes.
Computer medical record documentation.
Administrative duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Event coverage (home and away).
Overnight travel will also be required.
Function as a CAATE approved preceptor.
Instruct and supervise students during clinical experience.
Typical Qualifications
Education: B.A. or B.S. degree required from a CAATE-approved Athletic Training Education Program, Master’s degree preferred
NATA BOC certification
Maine State license or eligible for Maine State license
CPR certification
Experience:
Minimum of one year working as a Certified Athletic Trainer preferred, internships included.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Knowledge of Athletic Training skills which will include but not limited to: administrative skills, first aid, evaluation and assessment, rehabilitation and therapeutic modalities, as well as organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Seeking individuals with character, integrity, and the leadership skills necessary to complement the Husson University Sports Medicine Team and the athletic department as a whole.
