Food service encompasses the management of the fueling station and nutrition team-based oversight of the Athletics-only dining facility. The Athletics Staff Dietitian will work collaboratively with the rest of the Sport Performance unit, which includes Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, and Sport Psychology to maximize student-athlete performance, health and wellbeing.

ROLE of the POSITION

The Athletics Staff Dietitian is committed to excellence, advancing the mission, vision and values of the department and contributing positively to the student-athlete experience. The Athletics Staff Dietitian will work collaboratively with the rest of the Sport Performance unit, which includes Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, and Sport Psychology to maximize student-athlete performance, health and wellbeing.

The Athletics Staff Dietitian will manage and deliver comprehensive nutritional services to student-athletes. They will work to educate student-athletes, coaches and peers on how to optimize health and athletic performance through effective dietary habits. Evaluate and assess the dietary practices of intercollegiate student-athletes. Provide individualized nutrition plans for student-athletes to promote the achievement of short-term and long-term goals for athletic performance and optimal health. Educate student-athletes, coaches and support staff in lifestyle nutrition skills, including but not limited to, proper food selection strategies in the grocery store, food storage, pre-game menu choices, during-game fuel choices, post-game/practice fuel choices, etc. Evaluate and assess body composition and lead the education of student-athletes and coaches regarding body composition as it relates to optimizing health and athletic performance at various points throughout the year.

This position should have basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires aBachelor’s Degreefrom an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) andmust be a Board Certified Registered Dietitian. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
