The Head Coach - Cross Country leads, manages and develops a competitive collegiate cross-country program within the NAIA framework. This role will help build the program as Georgia Southern - East Georgia moves into the NAIA. This role is responsible for all aspects of the program including recruiting qualified student-athletes, implementing safe and effective training programs, promoting academic success, and maintaining full compliance with institutional, conference, and NAIA regulations, budgeting and overall program administration. The coach fosters a positive team culture while supporting the athletic, academic and personal development of student-athletes and representing the institution with professionalism.

Lead and manage all aspects of the Cross-Country program
Plan and implement daily training, race strategies, off-season conditioning, and long-term performance development
Provide technical instruction, performance feedback, and evaluate team and individual progress
Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes aligned with institutional and NAIA values
Build and maintain relationships with prospective student-athletes, coaches, and admissions staff
Monitor academic progress, eligibility, and collaborate with Academic Advising to support student-athlete success
Mentor student-athletes in leadership, personal development, and Champions of Character principles
Ensure compliance with NAIA, conference, and institutional rules, including eligibility and documentation requirements
Maintain safe practice and competition environments and communicate relevant policies and procedures
Manage program operations including budget, purchasing, equipment, inventory, and facilities
Coordinate scheduling, travel, lodging, meals, insurance, and hosting of home meets; supervise assistant and student coaches
Represent the institution through fundraising, marketing, campus engagement, committee service, and reporting to the Athletic Director
Education
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree preferred
Experience
Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level required
Collegiate coaching experience preferred
$40,000.00 year
Knowledge & Technical Skills
Strong understanding of distance running training methodologies, race strategy, and athlete development
Working knowledge of NAIA rules, compliance procedures, and best practices
Ability to analyze performance data and use technology to support training
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate student-athletes
Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship building skills
