General Purpose of Position
Meredith College seeks applicants for the Strategic Giving Officer for Athletics. This position is responsible for athletics fundraising and the ongoing identification, cultivation, and solicitation of alumnae prospects and donors, both individuals and families, to enhance the experience for our student-athletes. This position reports directly to the associate vice-president for institutional advancement while working with the athletics director and the athletics leadership team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Management of time for multiple responsibilities
Athletics Fundraising & Avenging Angels Club
Responsible for the qualification and identification, cultivation, and solicitation of alumnae prospects and donors, with attention to leadership prospects in athletics
Regular and systematic contact with prospects and donors through mail, phone calls, personal visits and special events on the campus
Oversight of the Avenging Angel Club and Athletic Annual Giving, including direct mail and Giving Day appeals
Manage the Avenging Angels’ Club, creating events to rebuild, enhance, and re-engage the members and future supporters
Maintain scheduled electronic communication with Club members
Provide regular prospect activity and progress reports
Grow corporate sponsorships for the athletics department

Meredith College Golf Classic
Work directly with the athletics director and the athletics leadership team as liaison.
Meet with the athletic directors on a regular basis
Prompt monthly gift reporting to the appropriate athletic staff from Advancement Services
Work as a member of the team of gift officers in Institutional Advancement. Performs other duties as assigned
Skills Needed:
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
Strong oral and written communication and marketing skills.
Understanding of donor recognition and stewardship.
Ability to function both independently and as a member of team.
Willingness to handle a heavy workload and irregular hours, including travel and some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of appropriate software and use of data, particularly Raiser’s Edge
Familiarity with higher education and single gender education.
Understanding of and conversant in the language and nuance of intercollegiate athletics
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 3 years of fundraising or related experience.
Familiarity with higher education and single gender education preferred.
