Ohio Wesleyan University invites applications for the position of Head Coach – Strength & Conditioning. This is a 12-month full-time benefit eligible position.
The Strength and Conditioning Head Coach will be responsible for all phases of program development for 24 NCAA Division III teams. Programming includes Olympic lifts, functional strength and power exercises, flexibility and pliability, balance and coordination, quality of movement and athleticism, speed development exercises to meet the demands of the athlete's position, level, event and sport.
Execute all responsibilities in accordance with the NCAA, NCAC, Ohio Wesleyan University policies and procedures.

Collaborate with the Athletic Training Staff on injury trends, frequency, rehabilitation, prevention and athlete physical and mental well-being.
Instructs the team, group or individual student-athletes in the safe, correct, optimized and efficient execution of exercises as well as ensure the health, and mental and physical safety of the student-athlete.
Instructs student-athletes in safe and effective spotting techniques and procedures to optimize the effects of the exercise.
Instructs student-athletes in body management such as correctives, pre-habilitation, and re-generation exercises to reduce unnecessary injuries, and increase in consistency and confidence in competitive performance.
Responsible for all phases of managing and developing staff of coaches, interns and student staff.
Cooperative and collaborative interaction with department and sports coaches for an integrated team approach.
Collaborate with the department of Health and Human Kinetics on the oversight of 4 undergraduate interns
Responsible for oversight of strength & conditioning spaces (Morrill Weight Room), including scheduling, program development, rules and guidelines, security & safety as well as identification of equipment needs and maintenance.
Participation in fundraising and revenue generation activities.
Planning and scheduling of on and off field strength & conditioning sessions in the traditional and non-traditional seasons.

A secondary assignment in the athletic department may be required as well as other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Current NSCA - CSCS or CSCCa-SCC Certification
Previous successful strength coaching experience
Familiarity with Division III athletics
Articulated commitment to the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior and to adhering to all rules and regulations of Ohio Wesleyan University, the North Coast Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.
Effective written communication skills
Student-centered focus
CPR, First Aid and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Ability to articulate the role that athletics plays in a rigorous academic collegiate setting and the importance of academic endeavors of student athletes
Successful strength coaching experience at the college or universitylevel
Experience exhibiting the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior and adhering to all rules and regulations of Ohio Wesleyan University, the North Coast Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.
Effective oral communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills
