Every member of the USG community is required to adhere to the USG Statement of Core Values, Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Respect that form and guide the daily work of the organization.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the HeadStrength and ConditioningCoach will design and implement thestrength and conditioning program for all Valdosta State athletic teams and student-athletes. Position will also be responsible for the teaching of beginning, intermediate and advanced weight training andstrength and conditioning classes. Position includes some weekend and holiday work based on specific sport seasons and team travel.
Department Summary
The VSU Athletics Department has the opportunity for a successfulStrengthand ConditioningCoachto work with our award-winning Division I athletes and contribute to our overall campus community by providing instruction in Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Weight Training. In this vital role, you will serve approximately 20-25% of your time sharing your expertise through weight training courses each semester. The remaining 75-80% of your contributions will focus on developing our athletes to maximize their athletic performance through safe and effective exercise principles.
Typical Allocation of Duties
Develop and oversee speed, strength, and conditioning programs for sports teams - 40%
Oversees, plans, and coordinates the strength and conditioning program for all sports teams on a year-round basis, including speed, strength and conditioning schedules, fundamental instruction and all team work outs.
Collaboration - 35%
Collaborate with all head coaches to plan, organize and facilities the strength and conditioning needs of each sports team.
Facility and equipment maintenance - 25%
Maintains proper strength and conditioning equipment and monitors strength and conditioning facilities. Makes recommendations for the purchase of new equipment.
Supervisor Expectations
In order to maintain accreditation standards and fulfill the teaching role of this position, candidates eligible for employment must possess a Master's degree inHeath, Physical Education, Human Performance ora related fieldfrom an accredited institution.
Ideal candidates will have one or more certifications including:CSCCa-SCCC and/or NSCA-CSCS Certification, CPR, AED and first-aid certification.

Bachelor's degree and over three (3) years of related work experience. Strength and conditioning specialist certification.
