The University of Dayton's Athletics department invites qualified applicants to apply for our Strength & Conditioning Coach opening! This strength + conditioning coach will primarily instruct, train and coach student-athletes in the women's basketball program and one other assigned sport about performance enhancement theories and techniques (strength, power and conditioning, nutrition, speed, quickness and agility) and instruct student-athletes for purposes of physical health, teamwork and safety. The strength + conditioning coach will have experience working with head coaches and sports medicine staff on issues related to developing, prescribing and implementing sound strength and conditioning programs. University of Dayton Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of coaching student-athletes and a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics with demonstrated and successful experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Bachelor's degree
Current certification by National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (SCSC) or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) as Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
Experience with sports nutrition and teaching student-athletes on the subject
Significant experience in working in a collaborative performance enhancement environment
Successful experience in training college or professional or other elite athletes
Valid driver's license, a low risk driving record and able to be insured by the University
Must be able and willing to work evening, weekend and holiday hours

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Master's Degree
Two years or more experience instructing collegiate student-athletes in the areas of strength & conditioning philosophies and techniques
Experience training basketball athletes
Experience working with D1 student-athletes
Successful experience in developing and implementing year-round strength & conditioning programs
Experience in injury prevention strategies and techniques
Excellent organizational, verbal & interpersonal communication skills
Expertise in coaching & motivating student-athletes
Able to expand strength & condition capabilities that contribute to the growth and success of our program
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with sports medicine staff
Experience supporting the overall mental health of student-athletes
