Athletic Compliance

Job Summary

 

The Student Assistant will support the Athletic Compliance Office as a Compliance Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2024. The Georgia Southern University Athletic Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented student assistant to join the Compliance Office team. As a student assistant, they will play a crucial role in supporting the office's mission to ensure adherence to NCAA rules and regulations. This position offers a unique opportunity for motivated students to gain valuable experience in the field of athletic compliance while contributing to the success of Georgia Southern University's athletic programs.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

 

• Assist in monitoring and documenting the recruiting activities of coaches and prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA guidelines
• Assist in monitoring and tracking the eligibility status of student-athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations
• Conduct research on NCAA rules, policies, and compliance issues, and provide summaries or recommendations to the compliance staff
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and compliance documentation
• Support the development and implementation of educational programs and materials to promote awareness of NCAA compliance among student-athletes and staff
• Provide administrative support for compliance meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and taking minutes
• Undertake special projects and assignments as directed to enhance the overall effectiveness of the compliance program

Shift Specifics

• Up to 15 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability
• May require work on evenings or weekends.

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Preferred Education

• Current Georgia Southern student in good academic standing

Preferred Experience

• Experience in maintaining confidentiality.
• Confidentiality is a paramount skill for a position in athletics compliance, as the role involves handling sensitive information related to student-athletes, coaches, and compliance investigations, requiring the utmost discretion and trustworthiness.

Proposed Salary

 

$7.25 per hour

_ This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis. _
