ABOUT PROGRAM
Job Summary
This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for a current student to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the success of Lake Sumter State College. The Student Assistant will provide essential support working closely with faculty and staff to ensure efficient operation or departmental activities.
This is a part-time position with an expected commitment of 20-25 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible to accommodate the student’s academic and other responsibilities. Students cannot work during class meeting times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with daily Cross-Country program operations, including practice/game day equipment set-up/breakdown, equipment, and practice area maintenance, and assisting Coach with preparation and stats.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Basic computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially Word and Excel
- Customer service skills and etiquette in dealing with customers in person and on the phone
- Basic English and math skills are required for clerical work and ticket sales
- Ability to alphabetize and file
- Attention to detail and proficiency in organization is required

Ability to work various hours, including nights, early morning, and weekends Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events or off-campus, as required
Minimum Qualifications & Education
Current LSSC Student enrolled in at least 6-credit hours
Hold and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
Minimum age of 18
Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
