Job Summary

This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for a current student to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the success of Lake Sumter State College. The Student Assistant will provide essential support working closely with faculty and staff to ensure efficient operation or departmental activities. This is a part-time position with an expected commitment of 20-25 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible to accommodate the student’s academic and other responsibilities. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating. Students cannot work during class meeting times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with daily athletic complex/field maintenance.
• Field setup for practices/games.
• Assist with field grooming, general landscaping and weed control; edging areas around complex using non-mechanical equipment and blowing out dugouts.
• Assist with laundry of game uniforms.
• Assist with inventory of equipment.
• Ensure a clean and safe workspace.
• Attend all meetings and training sessions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to use light gardening tools.
• Ability to operate/walk behind a mower.
• Ability to drive golf cart.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications as required.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications & Education

• Currently enrolled at Lake Sumter State College (min. 6 credit hours)
• Currently, hold and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Minimum age of 18
