Student-Athlete Academic Services provides academic advising and support services to the university’s student-athlete population. The athletics program is comprised of 18 varsity sports, 7 men’s and 11 women’s. The academic services program is committed to supporting the academic progress of student-athletes and the achievement of their educational objectives.
The Student-Athlete Academic Coordinator will provide academic support and guidance to student-athletes assigned by the Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services. The Academic Coordinator will monitor NCAA eligibility requirements and matriculation toward graduation, as well as implement academic programs that contribute to the educational and personal growth of supervised student-athletes.Monitor Academic Progress 25%· Meet with assigned student-athletes regularly· Monitor and report progress report data· Contact faculty when needed· Keep supervisor, coaches, and athletic administrators informed· Maintain student confidentialityAcademic Support 20%Coordinate study hall, tutoring, and academic support· Prepare study hall reports for coaches· Implement appropriate academic intervention strategies· Monitor student-athlete travel and help with travel documentation· Be available to work evenings and weekends· Maintain student confidentiality Advising and Registration 35%Provide advising and registration services for designated student-athletes· Monitor and track for NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility· Maintain eligibility and advising files on assigned student-athletes· Maintain student confidentiality Help with Prospective Student-Athletes 15%Meet with recruits to discuss academic services, campus programs, and university policies· Help with class registration for all assigned incoming student-athletes· Be available to work evenings and weekends· Maintain student confidentialityVarious Projects as Assigned 5%This position is contingent upon available funding.
Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and at least three years of experience working with students at the post secondary level or a master’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and experience working with students at the post secondary level. Experience working within a team atmosphere. Qualifying degrees must be conferred by the time of hire.
