Apply NowNOTE: THERE IS A PREFERRED CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION.The Student-Athlete Career Development Program Manager coordinates a career development program for Notre Dame’s 740+ varsity student-athletes to address their unique career development needs. The program manager must be able to assess, create, plan and implement programming/events, as well as leverage existing career development resources on campus in order to address and progress student-athletes through the different stages of the career development process. The Student-Athlete Career Development Program Manager will be a key member of the Undergraduate Career Services staff within the Center for Career Development. The program manager will be fully integrated and participate in the Center for Career Development activities, programs, events with a special focus on engagement with student-athletes. The program manager will also be responsible for building strong working relationships with a number of constituencies, including Student Welfare and Development, Academic Services for Student Athletes, Monogram Club, coaches, sports administrators, as well as other partners throughout the Athletics Department and academic colleges within the university. This position will serve in a liaison capacity for student-athletes between the Center for Career Development and their larger support staffs. In addition, the Student-Athlete Career Development Program Manager will also serve as a member of the Undergraduate Career Services Career Exploration team with a focus on the sports and recreation industry. In this capacity, the program manager will provide career counseling, programming and industry specific events for all undergraduates students interested in careers in sports and recreation. The program manager will also serve as an administrator for the IrishCompass sports and recreation industry group. This includes discussion generation, posting resources, addressing issues and collaborating with other administrators within the group. The Student-Athlete Career Development Program Manager will create and execute a plan to, develop, promote and manage programs, workshops, including tailored and team specific events to enhance the career development of student-athletes in collaboration with the Center for Career Development and Student Welfare and Development staff. The program manager will create, plan, lead and implement career exploration events with the goals of empowering student-athletes with timely and relevant knowledge needed to assist with career engagement, explorations, and employment, as well as networking events with Monogram club members, Athletic Department Advisory Council members, alumni, and recruiters. As a key collaborator with Student Welfare and Development, the program manager will have the opportunity to serve in a support role with broader student-athlete programming as an integrated team member. The program manager will develop strong communication links and partnerships with coaching staff in all 26 varsity sports and create partnerships of collaboration and program development to serve the unique career development needs of student athletes. The program manager will initiate new partnerships and help student athletes make the connection between the unique and related resources of all departments. As needed, the program manager will provide career counseling services to student-athletes, with a particular focus in career discernment. The program manager will guide and mentor students to the appropriate career counselor based on their unique career development needs. The program manager will lead appropriate career development workshops including but not limited to: exploring majors and careers, resume and cover letter development, networking, researching industry/career fields, and use of online resources. Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, or a related field. 3-4 years of related, full-time work experience.
