ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF.
Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enhancement, this position's primary responsibility is to facilitate athletics Community Involvement programming, social media and communications planning for the unit, and student-athlete honors and awards. This position also coordinates and assists with special events and workshops in other areas of the Student-Athlete Enhancement unit such as career development, leadership, personal enhancement. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Involvement - Coordinates all community outreach and involvement opportunities for student-athletes and staff. Develops standard and easily accessible weekly community outreach opportunities with campus partners. Creates and coordinates a sustainable community outreach program such as online reading, etc. Directs and coordinates the annual department-wide community event entitled A Day in Green and Gold. Collaborates with compliance and external staff to review, coordinate, fulfill, and track all internal and external promotional activity request and donation request forms.
Social Media and Communications - Develops, updates, and maintains a comprehensive social media and communication plan for the Student-Athlete Enhancement unit. Utilizes TeamWorks, email, Microsoft Outlook Calendars, social medias, etc. to promote and schedule all critical student-athlete enhancement programming and communications. Collects, creates, and compiles a weekly update for departmental communications, as well as comprehensive semester recaps and annual reports for departmental and external communications.
Selmon Mentoring Institute Support -Assist student-athlete career development through resume support, matching mentors for those enrolled in the 3-credit career development course and organizing materials for upcoming events. Utilize relationships with community partners to find part-time jobs, internships and job shadowing opportunities for student-athletes, as needed. Track caseload of student-athletes and recent graduates career placement data.
Additional Areas of Student-Athlete Enhancement - Serves on relevant campus and community committees as appropriate to support efforts and collaborations associated with primary oversight areas. Promotes and assists with recruiting efforts for sport teams and coaches as appropriate. Assists with events, classes, and workshops for additional areas of Student-Athlete Enhancement falling outside of primary oversight while maintaining efficiency across the unit. Serves as primary liaison collaborating with athletic academic services to coordinate the Summer Bridge program. Provides coordination and oversight for annual consults with student-athletes
Creativity and Innovation - Researches, identifies, gains approval, and implements innovative ideas to keep all programming within direct oversight relevant and on the cutting edge within the field. Rethinks, revamps, reinvents programming as appropriate while maintaining core values and goals. Effectively communicates new ideas and brainstorming with staff and supervisor.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in Higher Education or College Student Personnel or other related field. Direct experience working in college athletics and student-athlete services; experience working with a diverse population of college students; experience working with a diverse constituent base (e.g. student-athletes, faculty, administrators, alumni, community members); experience with program oversight and/or development; experience working within a team; experience developing and facilitating training programs; experience with event planning.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Background and experience working with diverse populations, preferably athletic environments. Ability to facilitate and/or teach college students. Event planning experience. Community Outreach knowledge and experience.
