The Intercollegiate Athletics Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Student-Athlete Development Coordinator to join their team.
Reporting to and under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development, the Student-Athlete Development Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and execution of the Boundless Futures student-athlete development program for 650 student-athletes in 22 sports at the University of Washington. In collaboration with the Student-Athlete Academic Services Staff (SAAS), Athletics Department staff, and campus entities, the Coordinator will ensure student-athletes are provided with relevant support services and programming in the areas of career development, personal development, community service, and leadership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• In conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Development and the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development, the Coordinator is responsible for supporting the execution of the comprehensive Student-Athlete Development program for University of Washington student-athletes.
• Responsible for scheduling workshops, panels, events, educational experiences and programs to enhance the career and leadership development of UW student-athletes.
• Develop policies and procedures that help deliver high-quality events in the areas of life transitions, career development (student-athlete career fairs, career industry pipeline programs, etc.), personal development, and leadership.
• Plan and execute the annual Dinner with a Dawg networking night and other career events for student-athletes.
• Responsible for Dinner with a Dawg career night budget.
• Facilitate all presentations and guest speakers for student-athlete program sessions, classes, mandatory programming and team workshops.
• Manage data collection and surveys as it relates to speakers, workshops, and experiences for the General Studies classes.
• Plan and organize all aspects of annual Boundless Futures’ special events including Husky Kickoff event in the fall, Dinner with a Dawg, community service events, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee events, and other Big Ten Conference associated events.
• Coordinate with other departments to execute and oversee organization of event logistics.
• Oversee database of mentors, employers, and alumni for career events and mentorship programs.
• Manage the expenditures for the student-athlete development department, including reconciliation of invoices and receipts.
• Develop content and maintain the Boundless Futures brand for marketing, social media videos and recruiting materials promoting student-athlete development programs and services for constituent groups.
• Oversee the disbursement of personality and behavioral (DISC) assessments, including follow-up communications for student-athletes, coaches, and teams.
• Establish and maintain a strong campus presence to ensure close working relationships with university staff, faculty, administration, and alumni so that coordination of efforts may take place where appropriate.
• Track all voluntary and mandated student-athlete programming including but not limited to, sexual assault and violence preventions, drug and alcohol education and diversity and inclusion programs.
• Responsible for the nominations and communications of leadership conferences and opportunities for student-athletes with the Big Ten and the NCAA.
• Advise the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and other student leadership groups as they pertain to the Big Ten. Coordinate all meetings, elections, service, projects and events.
• Participate in recruiting visits and presentations as requested.
• Maintain and manage master student-athlete program calendar and measurement and tracking and administrative documents and processes.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director for Student Services, the Assistant Athletic Director, Student-Athlete Development or the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sports Management or a related field required.
• Two years of experience working in the area of student development, college athletics, academic services, or related fields.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Proven ability to coordinate resources, logistics and events.
• Significant understanding of the lives and challenges of student-athletes.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously and with limited direction and complete projects by established deadlines.
• Demonstrated work experience with evidence of strong organizational, time management, communication, and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, campus administrators, and staff.
• Evening hours required on a weekly basis in addition to occasional weekend hours.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in Education, Sports Management, Counseling or Exercise Science/Leadership strongly preferred.
• Student-athlete development experience and experience teaching courses strongly preferred.
