This 10-month graduate assistant position supports the Athletics & Recreation department by coordinating athletics events, supporting operational needs and athletics communication including but not limited to:

• Oversee social media presence for athletics department accounts
• Oversee the creation of athletics department graphic design work for website, social media and on-campus signage
• Oversee statistical tracking and game recaps for assigned athletic events
• Manage content on GoMonks.com website
• Supervise athletics communications student workers and interns
• Recruiting, training and supervising event staff
• Serve as liaison to officials and visiting teams
• Communicate in advance with visiting teams on logistics of their arrival
• Coordinate athletic facility setup and breakdown for varsity athletic events
• Assist with signature athletics department events such as Hall of Fame, Senior Banquet, Golf Outing

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met to be considered for a GA position at SJC:

1. Be matriculated in a graduate degree program at Saint Joseph’s College (students in certificate-only programs are not eligible) before the actual start date determined by the department for the position
2. Be enrolled in at least one three-credit graduate course required for their degree each term during their appointment. If the GA appointment ends prior to the last day of a term, the GA may elect NOT to take any courses that term
3. Remain in good academic standing (including a minimum 3.0 GPA) and demonstrate progress toward a degree
4. Remain in good standing as a member of the Saint Joseph’s College community. Violations of the Student Code of Conduct may impact a student’s eligibility for a GA appointment.

Graduate Assistant Appointments:

• GA awards are for 10 months annually and typically follow the undergraduate academic year

• Based on performance and funding, appointments may be renewed for a second year

• GA work hours are determined by the department to which a GA is assigned, but not to exceed 20 hours per week

• Duties and responsibilities will correspond to the GA job description

• GAs are not permitted to work additional on-campus position beyond their GA position, at SJC. External work is permitted with the approval of the GA supervisor.
