Position Description:
The Volleyball Student Assistant will support the volleyball program in various capacities, including coaching, administrative tasks, and team management. The student coach will work closely with the coaching staff to ensure the day-to-day operations of the volleyball program. This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in sports management, coaching, or a related field and is looking to gain hands-on experience in a collegiate athletic environment.
Coaching Responsibilities:
· Assist the head coach and assistant coaches during practices and games.
· Provide individual and group training sessions to players.
· Help in the development of practice plans and game strategies.
· Conduct video analysis of games and practices to provide feedback to players and coaching staff.
· Support the recruitment process by evaluating prospective players and assisting with campus visits.
Administrative Duties:
· Manage team schedules, including practices, games, travel, and meetings.
· Handle logistics for away games, such as travel arrangements, accommodations, and meal planning.
· Maintain accurate records of team statistics, player performance, and other relevant data.
· Assist with the coordination of team events, fundraisers, and community outreach programs.
Team Management:
· Serve as a liaison between players and coaching staff, addressing player concerns, and providing support as needed.
· Assist with the organization and inventory of team equipment and uniforms.
· Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development.
Professional Development:
· Attend coaching clinics, workshops, and conferences to enhance coaching knowledge and skills.
· Network with other coaches and professionals in the field to build professional relationships and opportunities.
This position is subject to the North Dakota Veteran's Preference procedure.Proof of eligibility includes a copy of NGB 22 from National Guard or Reserve (with a unit located in ND) or certification from the applicant's unit command that the individual is expected to be discharged or released from active duty in the uniformed services under other than dishonorable conditions not later than one hundred twenty days after the date of the submission of the certification.
