Job Description

 

The Strategic Communications & Promotions Manager for the Division of Student Success at Missouri S&T plays a crucial role in promoting the division’s programs, services, and initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans and utilizing effective promotion platforms to enhance the visibility and engagement of student success initiatives. The manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including students and employees, to effectively communicate the division’s goals and achievements.

This position will be dedicated solely to the Division of Student Success with a dotted line reporting relationship with the Division of Marketing and Communications to ensure adherence to established brand standards, editorial consistency, and to enhance efficiencies in communication and promotions. The role will have access to all MarCom communication and marketing platforms and templates with cost sharing as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

1, Marketing and Communications Strategy:

• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication plans to support the Division of Student Success’s programs and initiatives
• Identify target audiences and tailor messaging to effectively reach and engage students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders

1. Content Creation and Management:

• Create, edit, and manage content for various communication channels, including the division’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and promotional materials
• Ensure that all content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the division’s branding and messaging guidelines

1. Social Media and Digital Marketing:

• Manage the division’s social media accounts, including creating and scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics
• Utilize digital marketing tools and techniques to enhance the division’s online presence and outreach

1. Event Promotion:

• Coordinate the promotion of events and programs organized by the Division of Student Success, including crafting promotional materials and managing event-related communications
• Collaborate with event organizers to ensure effective marketing and communication strategies are in place

1. Collaboration and Liaison:

• Work closely with internal departments, student organizations, and other university entities to coordinate communication efforts and ensure consistent messaging
• Serve as a liaison between the Division of Student Success and external media, including preparing press releases and handling media inquiries

1. Brand Management:

• Maintain and enhance the university’s brand identity across all communication platforms
• Ensure that all marketing materials adhere to university branding guidelines and maintain a cohesive and professional image

1. Analytics and Reporting:

• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts using data and analytics tools
• Prepare reports and provide insights on campaign performance, audience engagement, and overall impact

1. Administrative Support:

• Provide administrative support to the Division of Student Success, including managing communication schedules, coordinating meetings, and maintaining records of marketing activities
  

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education: A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong understanding of marketing principles, digital media, and communication strategies
• Use project management system(s) and marketing software (Click Up, Adobe Creative, Social Media Platforms, WordPress and DotDigital) to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget and of top quality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content and engage diverse audiences
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and interact effectively with various stakeholders
• Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing communication challenges

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Proven track record of producing high-quality media content
• Master's degree preferred (MBA, Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field)
• Experience with strategic communications and/or marketing campaign development
• Highly proficient in MS Office 365, including SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams
• Possess excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Be detail oriented and recommend process improvements to the communications initiatives
• Analyze situations, problem solve, address issues, and make reasonable decisions
• Develop content ideas in multiple formats and quickly execute high-quality content in those areas
• Juggle a variety of projects, shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Have a high regard for customer service by responding to requests and explaining the details of campaign strategies
• When issues arise (such as missed executions, incorrect content, insensitive design), identify the relevant information to communicate to leadership and effectively articulate these issues both in writing and in person

Anticipated Hiring Range

 

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $58,960-$83,304 annually. 

 
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
