G-League Coaches Responsibilities:

-Plans, organizes, and supervises practices and games for their specific team.
-Teaches basketball fundamentals to athletes in practices and games.
-Motivates the team for practices and games
-Teaches character lessons that involve relationship building, and sportsmanship.
-Instructs on game strategy
-Monitors players during practices and games and ensures safety and health of players
-Maintains equipment
-including caring for, inventorying, and storing uniforms, practice gear, and basketballs (may need to assign or wash gear daily)
-Abides by Greenville Lifestyles statement for employee’s and enforcing student standards of lifestyles for players.
-Academic progress checks for their players (are player enrolled in 12 hours a semester minimum), maintaining progress toward a degree (24 hours earned in one calendar year) - and keeping 2.0 GPA or above.
-Handling Injuries – reporting to the trainer all injuries and deferring to the trainer for treatment
-Managing Travel for away games including reserving a bus for transportation and feeding the team when needed.

-Maintaining Professional communication with head coach, players, officials and game management personnel.
-Scheduling a portion of away game contest.
-Conducting 1 on 1 player meetings several times throughout the year to let players check in.
-Potentially fielding calls from parents to discuss academic progress, injury, discipline, and overall progress while always maintaining a positive spirit (discussing playing time is off limits and parents need to be kindly reminded of this if they go there)
-Reporting to the program head coach with open lines of communication.

Requirements

College Student or graduate.
Played organized basketball.
