Job Duties
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
The sports director is responsible for the following:
• Produce weekly sports programming for (but not limited to) This Week atISU, SVTV20 and ISU sports updates in consultation with general manager, executive producer and production manager.
• Produce multiple sports features for ESPN3
• Assist in recruiting and training of student workers who can gather information, write sports stories and create sports packages.
• Serve as an on-air news anchor and host when necessary.
• Attend all meetings, studio productions and organizational events.
• Develop a training program for new organization members to insure basic understanding of electronic news/sports gathering and video production.
• With the executive producer, make sure all sports productions are completed, posted or placed on campus cable in a timely manner.
• Advise the general manager, executive producer and production manager of any problems or needs.
• Assist in the maintenance of overall production standards that reflect well on ISU Student Media.
• Provide sports material when needed and no student workers are available.
• Work with the general manager, executive producer, production manager and representatives from the Statesman and WZIS to produce multimedia content for Student Media and related medium-specific content for Sycamore Video.
• Everything else necessary to assist the general manager, executive producer and production manager in developing and consistently delivering high-quality video production for ISU Student Media.
