As a prospective member of Notre Dame Athletics, we encourage you to apply if you embrace, embody, and demonstrate a commitment to the aforementioned values.The seasonal Sports Nutrition Operations Coordinator will be responsible for managing the foodservice operations for 25 varsity non-Football sports for The University of Notre Dame Sports Nutrition department. This position will be responsible for overseeing our main fueling station along with several satellite fueling stations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to inventory management, product ordering, receiving deliveries, and assisting with the oversight of our student-worker team. In addition to the management of foodservice operations, this position will also be responsible for leading nutrition oversight for 2 teams. The Sports Nutrition Operations Coordinator will gain the opportunity to build leadership and management skills, manage budgets and gain sports dietitian supervision among other skills. This position is ideal for a Registered Dietitian looking to gain sports nutrition experience to set them up for success in a full-time sports nutrition position.Responsibilities:Fueling Operations • Coordinate oversight of fueling stations, including inventory management, order placement, deliveries, and maintenance of equipment•Assist Sports Nutrition staff with student worker recruiting, onboarding.•Lead scheduling and training of student-workers•Ensure daily completion of tasks including stocking and production lists•Oversee cleaning and sanitation initiatives and compliance•Create education for implementation in fueling stations including interactive activities, handouts, social media, etc.•Lead ordering, planning, communication and execution of Try-it Thursdays•Document and track expenses in a timely and organized manner; Provide regular updates regarding budget and expensesTeam Support -• Assess and counsel student-athletes on optimal nutrition practices for athletic performance, recovery from training/competition, recovery from injury and illness, weight management, hydration and supplementation • Provide team nutrition education through team talks, ARMS, educational handouts, emails, newsletters, signage, and other creative means • Collaborate with Director of Operations and other campus entities to provide recommendations regarding fueling practices for pre / post-game, half-time, travel, and other special meals in order to adhere to performance nutrition standards; Work with outside vendors and restaurants when necessary • Manage team travel nutrition needs including travel snacks, menu recommendations, etc • Willingness to travel with team(s) as needed during post-season. • Participate in performance team meetings • Participate in recruiting initiativesClinical Support -• Assess and counsel student-athletes on medical-related nutrition by using appropriate medical nutrition therapy techniques to care for GI issues, bone mineral disturbances, anemia, food allergies and intolerances, disordered eating, diabetes, hypertension, etc; Will receive training in EMR documentation • Conduct body composition assessments and analysis using the DXA according to protocol • Collaborate and communicate with Sports Medicine staff, Strength & Conditioning staff, Sports Psychology staff, and administration regarding sports nutrition for teamsMiscellaneous – • Attend weekly nutrition team meetings•Other duties as assigned
•Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or completion of DPD credits•Registered Dietitian or RD eligible within 1 month•Experience working within sports nutrition (collegiate or professional)•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Google Sheets, Editor and Drive•Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments•Excellent time management and organizational skills• Strong oral and written communication skills•Excellent record keeping and documentation skills•Driven and takes initiative to improve systems, processes and ensures the completion of tasks with pride•Dedicated to professionalism and leading by example•Ability to work in a fast paced environment•Ability to kneel, crouch, lift, carry and move inventory up to 50 lbs.•Ability to work in person non-standard work hours or work week, which may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
•At least one (1) year of related managerial and/or foodservice experience•Experience/openness to learn DXA body composition testing•Interest/openness in working with eating disorder/disordered eating population• Have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, specifically in regards to supplements
