Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
The Office of Strategic Communication (
OSC
) is looking to hire a public communications content creator to fulfill an 11-month commitment beginning in August/September of 2024.
The Public Communications Specialist will be detailed to work in the Fayetteville State University Department of Athletics and report to the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations. This role will be the department liaison for athletics media and the
OSC
. The specialist will assist Athletic Media Relations with pre-game and post-game stories, game broadcasts, features, and the maintenance of the athletic department’s website, and social media to promote the University’s 12-sponsored sports, student-athletes, and coaches across traditional and emerging media communication vehicles.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or related field is required.
A familiarity with college sports and the ability to write coherent press releases and sports stories.
Must be available for the majority of fall, winter, and spring sports, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel and work flexible work hours are required.
Must have experience with social media platforms specifically, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok,YouTube and LinkedIn.
Creative and collaborative with strong work ethics and willingness to learn new and innovative approaches to social media.
Professionalism, including the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with great multitasking skills.
Excellent writing, editing(photo/video/text) presentation and communication skills.
Must be able to work independently as well as team oriented.
