Job Summary

The Temporary employee will support the Women's Cross Country and Distance Track & Field program on the Statesboro Campus.

Temporary employees are employed according to departmental need and the length of time will vary by workload and may not exceed 1300 hours worked in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing leadership, planning, and organizing all aspects of the Georgia Southern Women's Cross Country and Distance Track & Field program
• Assists with:
  • Fostering and supporting student-athlete welfare
  • Recruiting highly qualified student-athletes
  • Practice scheduling and competitions
  • Coaching athletes in practice and competitions
  • Maintaining a strong academic environment, organizing conducting camps
• Teaches skills and strategies for cross country & distance events in both Track and Field and XC seasons
• Develops training and race plans for all distance events
• Monitors and holds accountable student-athletes academic success
• Recruits high school, international, and transfer student athletes that fit our program's needs
• Assists with travel coordination
• Adheres to all rules, condition and regulations as set for by Georgia Southern University, the Sun Belt Conference, and the NCAA
• Assists the Head Coach with any other duties as needed

Shift Specifics

• Up to 19 hours per week
• Shift varies depending on competition season
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays as the competition and practice season dictates

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

• Knowledge of NCAA Division I Track and Field practices and regulations, ability to establish good rapport and relationships with players, administrators, staff, alumni, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

• Masters Degree

Preferred Experience

• Previous coaching experience at the High School or Collegiate level.
• Experience with Cross Country and/or distance-events.
• Completion of USATF Level 1 or USTFCCCA base-level courses.
• Valid U.S. driver's license preferred.

Proposed Salary

$19.66 per hour

_ This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis. _
