Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service, health, wellbeing, connection and belonging, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.

The Defensive Coordinator is given specific autonomy and plays a critical role in overseeing the defensive strategy, planning and execution in consultation with the head coach for an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision program. This includes coordinating defensive practice and game preparation, analyze opponent’s offensive capabilities, evaluates performances of defensive players, and makes real-time decisions during games in partnership to the head coach. This position has both on- and off-campus recruiting responsibilities, to identify, encourage and evaluate application and acceptance of student athletes at Cornell in accordance with the Ivy League, NCAA and University policies as assigned by the head coach. As part of the coaching staff, this position plays an elevated role in the development of our program culture and identity.

This position is full-time, 12-months per year. The salary range of this position is $160,000 to $180,000. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of football defensive coaching experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
