Supervisory Responsibilities: •Develop and implement a specific plan for training for the individual Jumps Events • Each individual event requires a specific training plan that involves a specific periodization plan for speed, strength, technique, aerobic and anaerobic development, flexibility, and recovery. •Manage the largest training group on team, thus employ weekly individual meetings where goals are discussed, evaluation of weekly performance, advise social and academic development. •Plan with the Director, selection of a uniform that fits the needs of the team, uniform purchasing, provide logistical analysis of supply and demand, direct the distribution of the uniform. •Direct responsibility for recruiting student athletes that directly fit the strategic plan for the needs of the sprint and hurdle group. Providing careful cost analysis of how much money is available and how to maximize the use of that money to field a successful team all while managing a healthy program discount rate. • Make recruiting calls and visits, meet with visiting Track Recruits, establishing a strong recruiting relationship understanding the need of the recruit – all while selling the vision of why Carson-Newman fits their specific needs. •Gather information about Spring Track Meets and planning competition dates and venues that meet the specific periodization and plan model. •Evaluate and advise student athletes academic and athletic performance at the end of the semester to share with the Director of Track and Field as to determining whether each student athlete is meeting expectations and is an appropriate financial investment. • A strong recommendation for this position would be to serve as an instructor of PE 054 Speed Training which could provide students with insight into the development of speed and how to evaluate it.

• Analyze data of high school athletes to build an appropriate recruiting list for the next academic year. • Contact Coaches and upcoming high school juniors and senior for unofficial visits during the summer. • Conduct on campus recruiting visits, coordinating with admissions, to market Carson-Newman in the best possible light to potential students. •Contact current athletes every-other week, to keep open the lines of communication and to advise athletes socially and athletically. •Careful evaluation of each uniform and athletic equipment to develop a plan to order what is needed. •Evaluate and advise student athletes academic and athletic performance at the end of the semester to share with the Director of Track and Field as to determining whether each student athlete is meeting expectations and is an appropriate financial investment.
Essential Functions:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
Required Skills: All employees are required to be a professing Christian. Evidence of an active role in a local church is expected and employees can advance our Christian mission. Significant skill in the use of computer software and social media platforms. An understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. Effective communication and organizational skills, including experience in event marketing, sales, advertising, and promotions. Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Training is available for otherwise qualified candidates. Basic Working Knowledge of fundraising software (Slate, Raiser’s Edge, others).
