The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. This position will work within the Facilities unit of the Athletics Department.
The primary purpose of this entry level position is to provide support to our Turf & Grounds supervisors. The qualified candidate will be involved in all aspects of Turf and Grounds and Facility management. This will include but is not limited to preparing athletic fields and facilities for practices, games and special events; performing day-to-day maintenance on facilities equipment; and working athletic and special events as scheduled.
This position is directly responsible for all aspects of Turf & Grounds management to include but are not limited to mowing, fertilizing, seeding, sodding, top dressing, verti-cut, pruning, grading, and watering. This position determines the maintenance products and processes needed to repair the department’s ground equipment and automatic irrigation system.
This position must have an understanding of safety procedures and regulations as it relates to turfgrass and facility management. Facility preparation for athletic and special events are to exacting specifications to ensure the highest level of safety for participants and spectators.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License may be required.

- Prior experience in Turf & Grounds management.
- Ability to lift 30-60 pounds frequently and 90 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have a “can do” positive attitude and be able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
