The roles and responsibilities for the Assistant Commissioner position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Awards (20%)
Responsible for initial design and approval of final layouts of all awards (2,600 awards in total).
Manage all University Athletic Association awards processes (e.g., athlete of the week, All-UAA, Academic All-UAA, Presidential Scholars).
Work with each UAA sport committee to establish All-Association timelines and criteria and to select All-Association recipients.
Develop and distribute media releases recognizing award recipients.

Operations (60%)
Establish, oversee and implement priorities of the operational procedures of the UAA.
Select, hire, train and supervise a full-time intern responsible for the documentation of all office operations and procedures.
Collect and compile comparative budget and operational data, archive association policies, records and history as appropriate.
In conjunction with the Commissioner, participate in budget preparation and oversight.
Oversee all accounting, purchasing and payroll operations.
Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to UAA Commissioner and UAA Treasurer.
Review daily work of the sports information direction, including sports information submissions and publications.
Compile and maintain annual UAA Athletic Training Emergency Procedures Manual.
Administer the following NCAA grants: NCAA Strategic Initiatives Conference Grant, NADIIIAA/NCAA Partnership Grant and the DIII Pathway to Excellence Grant.
In the absence of the Commissioner, serve as the primary representative of the UAA and act on behalf of the Commissioner, exercising professional judgment and discretion in the handling of routine and non-routine matters.
Assist the Commissioner in managing the confidential NCAA medical hardship waiver application process.
Governance (20%)
Support the 19 standing governance committees of the UAA.
Serve as primary liaison to one or more UAA sport committees.
Respond to requests for information and interpretations of Association policies.
Serve as UAA staff administrator for membership services provided to the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators and the Division III Commissioner's Association.
