VCUAthletics is seeking a graduate assistant to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Marketing area.
Specifically, the Marketing Graduate Assistants will work closely with all facets of game-day event planning and implementation. Tasks include pre-event planning and advertising, ticket sales, event preparation including marketing set up and tear down, game day script writing, production, and management. Marketing efforts will support VCU’s Division I intercollegiate athletic programs and the overallVCUAthletics brand. This position will work both cooperatively and independently with administrators, coaches, and athletics department staff, as well as other University personnel and student organizations.
All duties and responsibilities will be assigned with the end goal of increasing attendance atVCUathletic events, representing and promoting theVCUathletics brand and increasing revenue for the department.

• Executing group sales plan to increase attendance through community outreach efforts (emphasis on emails and calls to past groups as well as creatively targeting new prospects);
• Overseeing the special marketing programs. (i.e. Junior Rowdy Rams Kids Club);
• Coordinating and managing mascot appearances;
• Assisting with various game day presentation duties for Men’s Basketball (i.e. Scheduling National Anthem singers, serve as on-court game day coordinator);
• Establishing effective on-campus marketing efforts (i.e. presence at student orientations);
• CoordinatingVCUAthletics’ presence at community events in and around the city of Richmond;
• Assisting with coordination of various athletics communication mediums (i.e. Weekly student emails, faculty/staff telegrams, campus digital sign updates); and
• Other duties as assigned (i.e. assistance with social media and dance/cheer/band coordination).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• Admittance into aVCUgraduate program; and
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a graduate assistant atVCU.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of and prior work experience in intercollegiate athletics;
• Strong customer service skills, highly organized, and detail-oriented; and
• Exceptional verbal and written communication.
