Description

St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public, a non-sectarian, co-educational, liberal arts institution, is accepting résumés for the position of Vice President of Athletics and Recreation. The Vice President of Athletics and Recreation serves as the College's chief athletics administrator and provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and executive oversight for all intercollegiate athletics, recreation, and related student engagement programs. Reporting directly to the President of St. Mary's College of Maryland and serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Vice President is responsible for advancing Athletics and Recreation as a strategic component of the College's mission, student experience, enrollment strategy, and institutional success. In this capacity, the Vice President performs the primary functions traditionally associated with the Director of Athletics, including leadership of athletics operations, NCAA and conference compliance, student-athlete success initiatives, personnel management, fiscal stewardship, facilities oversight, fundraising, and community engagement.

As a senior institutional leader, the Vice President collaborates with Cabinet colleagues, faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees, and community partners to advance the College's strategic priorities and strengthen its regional and national reputation. The Vice President plays a critical role in leveraging athletics and recreation as drivers of enrollment growth, student retention, campus engagement, and alumni affinity while fostering a culture of academic excellence, competitive success, integrity, inclusion, and student development.

The Vice President also works closely with the Athletics Advisory Group, a collaborative body comprised of faculty, staff, trustees, and other key stakeholders. Serving alongside the Faculty Athletic Representative, the Athletics fundraising officer, and other appointed members, the Vice President engages the Advisory Group in strategic planning, assessment, and long-range goal setting for Athletics and Recreation. Through this partnership, the Vice President helps guide the continued evolution of Athletics and Recreation in support of institutional priorities and the successful implementation of the College's strategic vision.
