Position Overview
Cleary University is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to serve as the Vice President (VP) of Athletics and Student Affairs. Reporting directly to the President, the VP will provide visionary leadership and effective management of Athletics, Residence Life, Student Conduct, and other co-curricular programs. As a key member of the university's leadership team, the VP will drive student success, foster community engagement, and cultivate a holistic, student-centered environment.
This role demands a dynamic individual with a passion for student development, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders to enhance the student experience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Planning
Oversee athletic programs and coaching staff, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and fostering excellence in tudent-athlete development.
Lead and align all Student Affairs departments including Residence Life and Student Conduct, with the university's mission and strategic goals.
Develop and implement strategic plans for residence life and athletic programs, including recruitment and retention strategies.
Evaluate and enhance policies, procedures, and programming to support student success and co-curricular engagement.
Team Supervision and Development
Directly supervise the Director of Athletics and Director of Housing, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and institutional priorities.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment while mentoring and developing staff across all Student Affairs offices.
Student Success and Engagement
Oversee the development and execution of programs and services that promote student learning, well-being, and leadership, such as multicultural activities, student government, and retention initiatives.
Act as the chief judicial officer, administering the student conduct process and ensuring adherence to university policies.
Collaboration and Communication
Partner with the Office of Enrollment Management to support recruitment and retention efforts, particularly for student-athletes and residential students.
Serve as a key liaison to students, parents, faculty, staff, and community partners, ensuring open and effective communication.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, and other higher education standards.
Lead the university's Behavior Intervention Team (BIT), ensuring effective management and response to student concerns.
Resource Management
Oversee departmental budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and adherence to financial policies.
Develop and manage fundraising initiatives, ensuring alignment with university priorities and goals.
Regularly review and update student affairs documentation, including the code of conduct, housing handbook, and athletic policies.
Professional Development and Community Engagement
Represent Cleary University at state, regional, and national conferences to remain informed of best practices in Student Affairs
Actively engage in community partnerships to enhance the university's reputation and relationships.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a related field.
At least five years of progressive leadership experience in Student Affairs, including Athletics, Residence Life, and Student Conduct.
Proven success in strategic planning, team management, and budget oversight.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations, including Title IX, VAWA, and FERPA.
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and work effectively with diverse student populations.
Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
