Job Summary

Provide Volleyball coaching staff with statistical analysis of current team, student athletes, and opponents.  Develop algorithms and formulas to help define and translate statistical data into meaningful information to aid coaches in game strategy and team analysis.  Maintain the statistical data in the recruiting database and report data to coaching staff as requested.

What You'll Be Doing:

Statistical Analysis                            

•Prepare and provide coaching staff with statistical analysis of current team and Student-Athletes as it relates to the game of volleyball i.e. trends that do not show up in box scores and current stat sheets.

•Prepare and provide coaching staff with statistical analysis of opponents, Conference and national trends as it relates to the game of volleyball i.e. trends that do not show up in box scores and current stat sheets.

•Prepare and provide coaching staff with statistical analysis of recruits as it relates to the game of volleyball i.e. trends that do not show up in box scores and current stat sheets.

• Organize and oversee vendor approval and payment for the statistical subscription services.

• Assist the assistant coaches in compiling scouting reports.

 

Statistical Modeling                           

•Develop algorithms and formulas to help define and translate statistical data into meaningful information to aid coaches in game strategy and team analysis. 

•Develop and maintain a statistical approach that will provide consistency and integrity in the data produced and utilized.

•Develop ad-hoc analyses and reporting as required.

 

Video                                                   

• Provide coaching staff with video elements such as opponent scouts, current Student-Athletes video and other video-related projects.

 

Statistical Recruiting Data                

• Maintain the statistical data in the recruiting database and report data to coaching staff as requested.

•Prepare and provide staff with data to include in the recruiting mail-outs and recruiting video.

•Participate with staff in the on-campus recruiting efforts.

•Monitor and coordinate recruiting services and materials that are sent to prospective student-athletes.

•Organize and oversee vendor approval and payment for recruiting services.

•Update, maintain, and prepare the prospective student-athlete recruiting presentation used by the staff

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science or related field preferred
• Two (2) years’ experience in volleyball analytics, coaching, related volleyball administration or related business analytics
• One (1) year experience in volleyball analytics preferred
• Experience with any business intelligence software and analytic and analytic tools; including video analysis preferred
• Experience with Volleymetics, VolleyStation, and/or Data Volley preferred

 

Skills needed:

• Able to influence and build working relationships among a diverse work group at all levels
• Excellent communications (oral and written) skills, problem solving, and customer service skills necessary
• Ability to plan and organize work; organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills; ability to read, interpret, instruct, and effectively communicate complex rules and regulations
• Ability to meet established deadlines, ability to effectively communicate with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and staff; personal computer skills including related database, word processing and spreadsheet software
• Ability to analyze, interpret, communicate, and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations
