Direct the recruitment of prospective volleyball student-athletes to continue to build a competitive and high-performing team.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance player skills, athletic performance, and team cohesion during both traditional and non-traditional seasons.
Coaching and Game Preparation:
Scout opponents, analyze game film, and create detailed match strategies to ensure team readiness for competition.
Foster a positive and competitive practice environment focused on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Team Leadership and Development:
Design and implement leadership development programs to empower student-athletes and promote effective team dynamics.
Serve as a mentor and provide ongoing support to student-athletes in both their athletic and academic pursuits.
Staff Management:
Hire, supervise, and manage coaching staff, including a full-time assistant, part-time assistants, and student managers/coaches.
Ensure staff are well-equipped to deliver high-quality training and support to student-
athletes.
Program Administration:
Oversee all administrative aspects of running a Division III volleyball program, including:
Coordinating team schedules, travel arrangements, and operational budgets
Leading fundraising initiatives
Alumnae engagement
Managing day-to-day program operations with efficiency and attention to detail
Community Engagement:
Develop and coordinate community service projects and outreach opportunities for student-athletes, strengthening the program's connection to the broader community.
Compliance and Sportsmanship:
Adhere to and ensure compliance with all NCAA, MIAC, and Gustavus rules and regulations.
Promote and exemplify high standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior both on and off the court.
Professional Development:
Stay current with trends in volleyball coaching, training methods, and recruiting strategies to continually improve the program and enhance team performance.
Camp and Clinic Operations:
Direct and manage all volleyball clinics, summer programs, and satellite camps to provide developmental opportunities for athletes and expand the visibility of the program.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director to support the overall success of the volleyball program and the college's athletic department.
Prerequisites
Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience coaching volleyball at the collegiate level, with a demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with colleagues, student-athletes, and the community.
Commitment to the academic success, personal growth, and well-being of student-athletes.
Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations, and a commitment to ethical coaching practices.
