Position Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as the Women's Club Lacrosse Coach.
Responsibilities include overseeing the development and administration of the club team, providing quality coaching to student-athletes, while promoting the values of sportsmanship and teamwork. This position includes practices during the week, games on the weekends and some travel. 

This is a non-benefited part time position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Responsibilities include overseeing the development and administration of the club team, providing quality coaching to student-athletes, while promoting the values of sportsmanship and teamwork. This position includes practices during the week, games on the weekends and some travel.

Essential Functions

Coaching and Training

• Develop and implement effective training programs, practice sessions, and game strategies specific to the assigned club sport.
• Provide skill instruction, guidance, and constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.

Team Management

• Conduct regular team meetings to discuss team goals, expectations, and upcoming events.
• Coordinate practice schedules, facility reservations, and game schedules in collaboration with the club sports office and executive board.
• Ensure compliance with University policies, rules, and regulations related to club sports.

Competition and Event Management

• Attend competitions, matches, and tournaments with the team and provide coaching and support during games.
• Collaborate with the club sport executive board to organize and execute club sports events and fundraisers.

Student-Athlete Development

• Foster a positive and respectful team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, academic success, and personal growth.
• Serve as a mentor and advisor to student-athletes, providing guidance on balancing academic and athletic commitments.
• Encourage and support student-athletes' participation in leadership and community service opportunities.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate records of team rosters, attendance, and performance statistics.
• Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and procurement.
• Collaborate with the club sports office on fundraising initiatives, and compliance with university policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications 

• Coaching experience in the specific club sport or a closely related sport.
• Knowledge of coaching techniques, strategies, and rules for the specific club sport.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of student-athletes, coaches, and University staff.
• Familiarity with University club sports programs and the unique challenges and opportunities they present.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with coaching at a high school or collegiate level.

Work Schedule

The duration of this part-time position is from January 2024 to May 2024. This position includes practices during the week, games on the weekends and some travel.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for this position is $25.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation rate that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
