Job Summary

The Athletics Department at Jacksonville University invites applications for the position of 2nd Assistant, Women’s Rowing Coach. Jacksonville University is an NCAA Division I rowing program and is an affiliate member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Jacksonville women’s rowing program has won 6 MAAC Championships and has competed at the NCAA Championship. Our state of the art boathouse is located on campus along the banks of the beautiful St. John’s River. Rowing started at JU in 1956 and has a rich tradition both here on campus and in the Jacksonville community

Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Rowing/Head Women’s Rowing Coach and the First Assistant Coach in planning, organizing, and coordinating the program with special emphasis on the recruitment of Division I caliber student-athletes, both on and off campus. The position includes conducting daily on and off water practices and training of novice student-athletes safely and efficiently. Involved in all other aspects of a Division I women’s rowing program including but not limited to coaching, administration and alumni relations, and other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Rowing within the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Jacksonville University and the MAAC.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; minimum of two years’ coaching or collegiate rowing experience is strongly preferred; collegiate rower and/or coxswain experience preferred. Strong leadership skills, highly motivated and energetic. Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations preferred. Certification in CPR, AED and first-aid will be required.
