Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. The Murray Athletic Center (MAC) is located off-campus, approximately 8 miles from the main campus. It is comprised of three geocentric domes and is the premier location for many sports EC offers. The Murray Athletic Center has six squash courts, a media room, and a smart classroom used by our athletic teams for film sessions. The world's first geodesic dome athletic complex, the Murray Athletic Center, is one of the most unique athletic facilities in the Northeast. Located eight miles from the main campus, it features a 3,200 seat hockey arena, a 2,000-seat gymnasium, a 38,000 square-foot field house with four indoor tennis courts, six squash courts and two playing fields.

The Ice Arena is the home location for our nationally recognized men’s and women’s ice hockey programs. A large community and student following make men’s and women’s ice hockey games a destination during the winter months in Elmira.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Ensuring that all locker rooms, offices are cared for and inspected to meet Elmira College set standards for Housekeeping.
Maintain, clean and disinfected bathrooms (showers, toilets, etc.)
Maintaining supplies; stocking supplies in storage areas or closets
Maintaining closet or storage area in a clean and organized fashion to promote efficiency and knowledge of products on hand.
Vacuuming and carpet cleaning; may use a floor machine and buffer, broom, mop, etc.
Cleaning windows, walls, and woodwork
Removing trash and recyclables
Dusting and polishing
Secondary (minimum) Duties
Work men’s and women’s hockey games or special events as needed
Ability to use a computer and tablet for email and record keeping for the Facility
Other duties assigned by Supervisor
Notify Supervisor of any damage or disturbances
Job Qualifications
High school education and/ or GED preferred
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
6 months related experience preferred
Ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and visitors on a daily basis in a friendly, professional manner
Able to stand for long periods of time; Ability to stoop, bend, twist and reach
Able to lift and carry 50+ pounds
Maintain flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
Able to maintain a Professional work environment between co-worker’s other departments and students
Working Conditions
While performing essential functions of this position, Housekeepers work in indoor campus settings. In some cases, housekeepers may be outdoors when having to walk from building to building. Housekeepers work with cleaning chemicals and may be in contact with soiled items, body fluids, airborne particles, fumes and dust. Noise level is typically low to moderate.
BASIS OF PAY : Hourly, Non-exempt
RATE OF PAY : $18.00 per/hour
Compensation package includes health insurance options, college-paid term life insurance, college-paid short-term disability insurance, 15 paid holidays and generous sick and vacation time, full tuition remission (waiting period may apply), and an employee assistance program (EAP).
