SUMMARY: The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Athletic trainer in program building including planning, recruiting, managing and directing the athletic training programs. The Assistant Athletic Trainer also assists in providing medical coverage for athletic programs.
LOCATION: Corban University’s 220+ acre campus is situated on a hillside forest setting overlooking the Willamette Valley, just minutes from the heart of Salem, Oregon’s capital city. The rugged coast awaits only an hour’s drive to the west. To the east is the mountainous Cascade Range. Portland, the state’s largest city, is less than an hour away and is home to cultural museums, parks, shopping, and restaurants.

Provide first aid and emergency care for athletic-related injuries and determine appropriate medical referral as warranted.
Provide care to all student-athletes including prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.
Provide general athletic training room services.

Provide general athletic training room services.
Organize and direct pre-participation Physical Exams and Postural and Body Composition Screenings as needed.
Coordinates and assists with home and away event athletic training coverage.
Assist in the inventory, ordering and stocking of all supplies and equipment for athletic training.
As permitted, maintain lines of communication with the student-athletes, coaches, and the Director of Athletics concerning the student-athlete’s participation and the current status of an injury or medical problem.
Communicates on a regular basis with coaches about the status of their injured players.
May serve as a consultant to the Head Coaches on their strength training and conditioning program when needed.
Work cooperatively with personnel in the Athletics department, attend department meetings and activities, and represent the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public.
Maintain communication with Corban University’s team physician.
Provide medical services during practices and competitions, home and away, throughout the academic year and vacation periods as necessary.
Assist with the supervision and maintenance of Corban University’s medical facility for athletes.
Assist with the provision of medical care for visiting athletic teams.
Assist the review of physical exams and medical histories for each athlete.
Monitor pre-existing health conditions of student-athletes.
Prepare and maintain appropriate athletic injury care records and reports as required following all NAIA, HIPPA, and NATA guidelines.
Assist in the communication to student-athletes and coaches the Department’s heath insurance policies.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Comply with all federal rules and regulations.
Follow, and enforce Corban University, NAIA, CCC medical policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel.
