The Academic Success Coordinator (Athletics) (ASC-A) will plan, develop, and manage the implementation and monitoring of academic support programming for student-athletes at Augusta University. As a student-centered professional, they will join the team at the Academic Success Center (ASC), a unit dedicated to helping students reach their academic potential, and report to the unit Director. This is a multi-faceted position that is responsive to the academic goals of our student-athletes and supports the `Student First' mission of the AU Athletics Department.

The duties include, but are not limited to:
MANAGE THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAMMING OF STUDENT-ATHLETES:Building strong, collaborative relationships with student-athletes to support their academic growth and personal development.Monitoring all student-athlete class schedules, grades, current semester course load, and progress toward a degree as it impacts eligibility, academic success, and graduation will be done in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services (or departmental designee). Developing and maintaining an effective coaching program that includes creating Individual Academic Success Plans (IASP) for all student-athletes.Scheduling regular meetings during the term to review academic progress and make adjustments as needed.Providing insight to academic advisors regarding advisement decisions based on eligibility and progress toward a degree. Monitoring study hall hours
Referring student-athletes to the appropriate academic and non-academic support services as needed. Attending departmental meetings in the ASC, ISSE, and the Athletic Department as necessary. Managing the recruitment, training, and development of a graduate assistant
SUPPORT THE GOALS OF THE ASC THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSITY BY:Cultivating a welcoming and supportive environment, respecting differences in the AU community,utilizing effective text, email, and verbal communication techniques with active and prospective students. Collaborating and communicating with faculty regarding student progress and support options. Providing feedback and follow-up with faculty on student progress in conjunction with the Director, serving as liaison, and collaborating with appropriate University programs, services, and organizations to develop programming to promote student athlete's academic success. Teaching 'Academic Success Instruction and Innovations (ASII) 1101 ' Learning for Success' for student-athletes once a term.
ENGAGE IN DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS THROUGH: Documenting meetings and updates on student progress in the electronic records system. Generating timely reports to ensure up-to-date information is shared with institutional partners.Monitoring and tracking the academic progress of all student-athletes utilizing Navigate,maintaining data related to student enrollment, attendance, retention, and tracking of benchmarks for program assessment and development.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of experience working with various student populations. MSc, MEd, MAT, and equivalents accepted.
Knowledge of program development, data gathering, assessment, and evaluation skills.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to recognize opportunities and experience in developing innovative programs.
Flexible attitude and agile approach for a fast-paced work environment.
KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated experience working with students for academic success.
Demonstrated experience with teaching, pedagogy and pedagogical strategies.
Demonstrated ability in working as part of a team, establishing rapport and collaborating with a variety of organization stakeholders.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint or comparable software programs.
Experience with BANNER and student tracking software preferred.
Multicultural competencies, knowledge, and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.

Pay Grade: 15
Salary: $38,913 - $47,065.11
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
