Supervisor prefers a four year degree from an accredited college or university or at least 2 years of financial aid experience. Office experience handling multiple tasks simultaneously desired. Ideal candidates will possess exceptional written and communication skills, will be process and detailed oriented, and work with minimum supervision.
Position Overview
This position will scan and index documents as they are received; This position awards institutional and outside scholarships, informs students/parents of outside scholarship opportunities and assist students regarding the financial aid process. In addition, this position will assist with the awarding of athletic awards, and must be able to interpret and apply all NCAA rules and regulations for the awards. The position will also assist students and parents via the telephone, email and assist with the front desk.
The Financial Aid Office provides parents and students with information regarding financial aid process and assist them with securing funding to finance their education for the academic year.
8 am - 5 pm M - F
Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies
Communication - Verbal/Written
Counsel students/parents one on one in the office or via telephone and/or email regarding external scholarships, endowments, and athletic scholarships. Use appropriate interpersonal skills and methods to give out standardized information based on provided guidelines. Respond to all telephone calls and/or emails within a timely manner.
Information/Records Administration
Create and maintain outside scholarship database for students/parents to reference as they seek outside resources to assist with financing their education. Award all outside scholarships and scan and index them to ensure information is recorded correctly to prevent a student from being over awarded and/or over budgeted. Uses Financial Aid Banner to confirm status and eligibility, document actions as necessary. Uses BDMS to review scanned documents for completion.
Knowledge - Program
Interpret and apply federal and state regulations for financial aid and how it applies to scholarships. Interpret and apply institutional policies regarding departmental scholarships to ensure that all scholarships are awarded according to the pre-determined criteria. Interpret and apply NCAA requirements for all athletic scholarships awarded. Apply a general knowledge of internal financial aid programs, policies and forms to assignments. Conduct occasional workshops.
Problem Solving
Resolve issues with any outside, athletic and institutional scholarships which may require research and review of policy and procedures. Judgment for problem resolutions based on delegated authority from supervisor.
