Position Overview
The NCCU Department of Athletics’ primary purpose is to provide leadership for an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program. The NCCU Department of Athletics places the highest priority on a quality academic and athletic experience as part of the overall education of student-athletes. The Department of Athletics seeks to strengthen the integration of the athletics program objectives with academic development objectives.
This position works with Men’s and Women’s Basketball Program at NCCU. It requires knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, travel requests and reimbursements; the use of office technology, Banner, NCAA compliance databases, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greet/referring/assisting visitors/clients/staff/others, mail distribution, and photocopying. The completion of work often involves a public contact role to obtain, clarify, or provide information regarding activities of the work unit or program.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Problem solving abilities. General organizational and office management experiences. Knowledgeable of computer software used in general office environment (Microsoft Office products).
High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies
Communication - Verbal/Written
Serves as primary sports information contact for men’s and women’s basketball. Greeting and assisting visitors, clients, students, staff. Responds to questions/issues received by all constituents on behalf of men’s and women’s basketball. Schedules and coordinates all appointments, meetings and events for men’s and women’s basketball. Compose and edit correspondence and reports using various office technology.
Information/Records Administration
Organize and maintain files, assist with mail distribution and photocopying. Maintains personnel records, vacation/sick leave reports, non-exempt time sheets, work study time reports and submits necessary paperwork to Athletic Department and Human Resources as required.
Budget Management
Maintains records of budget transactions, invoices, purchase orders, etc. Maintain balances as required by the Athletics Business Office. Monitors and reconciles men’s and women’s basketball program travel requests, reimbursements and office expenditures through the Athletics Business Office.
Knowledge - Program
Attend all Games Operations meetings as representative of men’s and women’s basketball. Assist with game day operations such as Athletics Will Call during men’s and women’s home basketball games. Needs basic knowledge of NCAA guidelines and ability to access and navigate NCAA compliance databases.
