Summary of Position

The Adventure and Sport Program Coordinator oversees and administers the daily operations of the adventure program, which includes outdoor adventure trips such as mountain biking, outdoor climbing, backpacking, mountaineering, and snowshoeing, the sports programs, special events, the indoor climbing wall, equipment rental, student development, teambuilding programming, monitoring budgets and researching vendors, maintaining records, equipment, and inventories, marketing, planning, and reporting. This position ensures compliance with risk management, safety, and injury policies and procedures. The Adventure and Sport Program Coordinator provides leadership and supervision of 15+ student employees including timesheet processing, overseeing development and assessment of learning outcomes, and coordinating the Trip Leader apprentice training program. This position oversees administration of the CPR/AED/First Aid and outdoor certifications of employees.

The Adventure and Sport Program exists to meet the needs of the RRCC community, encourage participation in the programs, and foster a fun, inclusive, and safe environment for program participants. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm. May require night and occasional weekend hours for programming and weekend outdoor trips. Attendance at various campus-wide events and some travel is required. May be required to work from any RRCC campus, primarily at the Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus.

A successful candidate possesses a strong adventure and sport background, and is at ease with the following:

  • Building a Diverse Team: Seeks to understand the individual strengths on the team and uses those talents to make the most impact for students. Hires individuals from diverse backgrounds that support values and appreciation for individual differences.
  • Planning and Prioritization: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements. Coordinates with others in response to multiple, competing demands to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Readily readjusts priorities to respond to pressing and changing demands.
