The Art Director, Olympic Sports, is a talented, independent-thinking creative with a comprehensive knowledge of design across mediums. This role will lead the design and execution of social media and recruiting graphics for various olympic sport teams; requiring a strategic understanding of how designs and systems can be repurposed to meet the needs of multiple teams. The Art Director, Olympic Sports must be a great communicator, collaborating with both the Communications staffs for various sports, and the Fighting Irish Media creative team.
Furthermore, this role will work closely as a member of the Fighting Irish Media creative team to assist in the development of the overall visual identity of Notre Dame Athletics. The role also has the opportunity to work directly with student-interns, mentoring and guiding young designers.
The Art Director, Olympic Sports, creates work that directly impacts both the future of Notre Dame Athletics (through recruiting), and elevates the current perception of the Notre Dame Brand (through graphics directed to fans).

Additional Expectations Include:
Independently manage the completion of all day-to-day projects, and forecast/prepare for big picture projects items.
Work within the yearly visual direction for Athletics, ensuring our sports are visually cohesive.
Use awareness of industry trends in style and technology, both current and next-generation, to foster innovation.
Mentor assistant and student designers and delegate projects as necessary.
Foster working relationships with key department heads (Sport Administration, Marketing, Fan Experience, Fighting Irish Media)
Engage in regular ideation sessions and lead others in effective brainstorming techniques.
Support Fighting Irish Media in auxiliary roles, helping to capitalize on other team members’ ideas and creations.
Foster and promote a safe, collaborative, creative culture within Fighting Irish Media, and the broader Athletics department.
Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
3 to 4 years experience
Advanced knowledge of graphic design including completion of complex assignments in high pressure deadlines
Highly skilled in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop / Illustrator expert, After Effects and InDesign knowledge a plus)
Able to work in a fast paced environment
Collaborative team-player who can contribute to both the skills and culture of the design team
Communicates proactively, clearly, and promptly
Strong awareness of social media trends
Understanding of and compliance with
NCAA

ACC
, and ND rules and regulations is imperative
