DESCRIPTION

The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of The Assistant AD- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). UC San Diego, located in La Jolla, in the San Diego Metropolitan area, enrolls over 35,000 students, earned recognition as one of the world’s premier research universities, and is ranked as one of the top-10 public universities in the nation. Triton Athletics has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence and sponsors 23 varsity sports. UC San Diego Athletics has begun reclassifying to NCAA Division I and competes as a member of the Big West Conference.

The Assistant AD- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) provides comprehensive and advanced EDI vision and guidance to the Athletics Department, in alignment with the overall vision and mission of UC San Diego Athletics. This position supports department-wide strategic initiatives as well as the day-to-day administration. The position reports to the Executive Sr. Associate AD Ethics, Compliance & Scholar-Athlete Success, and has a strong, ongoing liaison relationship with Athletic Department leaders such as the sport administrator group and campus partners including the Vice Chancellor of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office and University’s Community Centers.

This position serves as a technical leader who provides guidance to all levels within the organization, utilizing specialized diversity, affirmative action, equal employment opportunity expertise within area of responsibility to resolve highly complex issues. Develops, guides, and oversees department EDI strategy, policies, and programs. Oversees coach, scholar-athlete, and staff development and programming in EDI. Consults with and advise coaches, staff, and scholar-athletes on EDI related areas. Liaise with Athletics Compliance to interpret and apply NCAA and campus policies and standards related to EDI. Curate and select appropriate EDI education for Athletics Department staff and scholar-athletes. Liaise closely with OPHD to respond to and monitor incidences of hate, discrimination, and bias that impact the Athletics community.
